The International Chocolate Salon results for the 11th Annual HOT CHOCOLATE AWARDS are based on the combined total number of votes received by each entrant from the Judging Panel.

The chocolate awards Judging Panel consists of National and Regional Magazines, Newspaper and Blog Editors, plus Topic Experts, Local Chefs and Food Gurus.

JUDGES COMMENTS

  • Just right were the level of cinnamon spice in Delysia's Cinnamon Roll Drinkiing Chocolate and the raspberry-ness of Panache's Raspberry. Chambord Cocoa, two of my favorites. Delysia's Chai Chili Drinking Chocolate added a whole new dimension to chai tea.
  • Delysia's Turmeric Creme Brûlée and Chai Chili Drinking Chocolate were both surprising and exceptional.

  • Taiwanese tea flavored drinking chocolates were interesting — more chocolate teas than drinking chocolate IMO because the tea flavors were so dominant. I would love to see what they would do with other teas.
  • Dark chocolate cocoa please! infused with tropical flavors, orange citrus, or strawberry or white chocolate matcha latte or coffee! mocha yes!
  • Some flavors are unbalanced, too much sweetness

JUDGES INSIGHTS

  • Meiho University might consider using herbal tea as the base for their cocoa teas. To my taste the the bitterness of black tea does not suit the chocolate profile. Mint or a sweet orange herbal tea might be better suited.
  • Such a great variety.. Delicious.
  • All participants should include their list of ingrediients, particularily panache.
  • Panache’s Chambord Raspberry Cocoa was a delicious, not too sweet sipping chocolate with a strong raspberry chocolate flavor. It also represented a good use of ruby chocolate — its tangy berry tones enhanced the raspberry flavor. Worth seeking out.
  • Hot cocoa is comfort food on a cold day. Cocoa Mia Cocoa, Delysia Cinnamon Roll, Panache Chambord, and Panache Brown Sugar Bourbon all reached that standard. They made me wish I were sitting in a chair in cabin on a snow covered mountain gazing out at the snowflakes. The Panache Raspberry Chambord was my favorite.Their flavor profiles were rich in chocolate and not masked by many other ingredients. The Sonoma Straight Sipping Chocolate was enticing.
  • COBA coffee chocolate hot or cold coffee cocoa would be yummy delicious! (not in competition)
  • Products need to dissolve better. This is a consistent problem.
